A tragic collision in Pickaway County, Ohio, has left a woman dead and a motorcycle rider critically injured after a pickup truck failed to stop at a rural intersection, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred Sunday afternoon on State Route 159 near Kingston-Adelphi Road when a pickup truck allegedly entered the intersection from a stop sign and struck a three-wheel motorcycle traveling through the roadway. The passenger on the motorcycle, Peggy Sims, was thrown from the vehicle and later died at Adena Regional Medical Center despite emergency efforts.

The motorcycle was being operated by Ellery Elick, who sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

Investigators say the pickup driver failed to obey a stop sign before entering the intersection, causing the collision. No charges have been filed as of yet, and authorities are still reviewing evidence including vehicle data, witness statements, and toxicology results.

The intersection has a history of prior crashes, and officials are continuing to examine whether visibility, speed, or other contributing factors played a role.

A memorial has been set up near the crash site as the community mourns the loss, and funeral arrangements for Sims are expected to be announced in the coming days.
