Roger Stroble, 74, of Kansas City, Kansas, has died following a serious three-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday afternoon near 34th Street and Merriam Lane, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The collision, which involved a speeding sports car, has resulted in multiple injuries and left the community mourning a sudden and tragic loss.

Authorities say the crash happened shortly after 4:45 p.m. on May 20, when a 2019 McLaren 570S driven by 28-year-old Sidney Kile was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed. Investigators report the McLaren struck a 2017 Honda Accord as it attempted to turn north onto 34th Street. The impact of the collision caused the sports car to continue forward, hitting a stopped 2018 Ford F-250 pickup truck.

Officials confirmed that the sequence of impacts led to multiple injuries at the scene. Stroble, who was a passenger in the McLaren, sustained critical injuries and was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he later died despite emergency medical efforts.

Emergency responders arrived quickly and worked to assist all individuals involved while securing the busy intersection. The driver of the McLaren, Sidney Kile, was also hospitalized with suspected serious injuries. Authorities have not released full updates on the conditions of the other drivers involved as the investigation remains ongoing.

The crash has prompted an outpouring of grief from family members, friends, and members of the Kansas City area, who are now grappling with the sudden loss of Stroble. Those who knew him are remembering his life and the relationships he built, while trying to come to terms with the circumstances of the tragedy.

The Kansas Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash to determine the full sequence of events, including speed, right-of-way factors, and other contributing conditions. Additional information is expected to be released as officials complete their review.
